BECOME A MEMBER
If you wish to join Holme Valley u3a we recommend you contact our Membership Secretary on 07548992144. Please leave a message if there is no reply and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
We ask you to sign and agree to abide by the aims and guiding principles of the u3a Vision and Mission Statement and its constitution. Here is a link to Our constitution. It can also be found under Links on the Committee page is available to view at our Members' Monthly Meetings.
Membership gives you access to all our activities and allows you to create and, if you wish, run your own group. It also provides access to our online quarterly newsletter which can be posted to you if you do not have e-mail. For an additional £3.80 a year you can also elect to receive the National u3a magazine u3a Matters which will be sent to you by post, up to five times a membership year.
The membership year starts on 1st May with an annual fee of £16. A reduced fee applies when joining partway through the year as follows:
Membership subscription | when joining... |
£16 | between the beginning of May and the end of December. The fee, when joining in May, is the full year subscription for the following year. |
£10 | between the beginning of January and the end of April. |
These include fees of £5.50 payable to the u3a Trust for essential services including Advisory and IT services and Insurance.

Former members who wish to re-join must have been a non member of HVu3a for at least one complete membership year to qualify for the reduced fee. Members who do not renew their membership at the start of the membership year cannot renew later that year at a reduced fee. You can download a membership application form here Membership Application form, fill it in and bring it to one of our monthly meetings or obtain a form and complete it there. We hold our meetings on the second Friday of each month (with exceptions possible in July and December), at Holmfirth Methodist Hall, starting at 10.00am. Please check our calendar at the bottom of our Events page Events to confirm we will be meeting.
When completing the form...
- Please take particular care to ensure your postcode, email address, especially if it contains special characters such as underscore '_', hyphen '-', or full stop '.' and telephone numbers are written clearly as we will use the information you provide to identify you within our membership system and if there is need to contact you.
- If you pay UK tax and wish to help us by providing an additional source of income through giftAid, then please complete the giftaid section of the form, in its entirety.
