Science & Technology
Andrew Haggie has recently become group leaders for SciTech. Please contact him if you want to come along.
The aim of the group is to cover any and all aspects of science and technology in their widest sense and requires no scientific background just an interest in “how things work”, “how things are made”, “how do they do that”, “I never knew that”
Rather than having a theme for the year, there will be a presentation (as long or as short as they like) by one or more members on topics of their choosing; some months we will have a DVD etc instead of a talk.
Topics planned for 2019 include Vehicle light-weighting, The Barwell meteorite, Population studies, Sociology of health, The aerofoil and control of flight, Malting & Brewing
Over coffee we will have a general discussion centred around the talk / DVD and in addition members are encouraged to bring along interesting or controversial snippets gleaned from the media to add to the mix.
Meetings are on the 2nd Friday of the month 10 am till 12 noon in the David Herbert Room at The George Ward Centre. The summer meetings may be replaced by half or full day trips out.
