The Film Group meets on the first Wednesday of every month in Rooms 1 and 2 at the George Ward Centre in Barwell. The meetings start at 14.00 and finish by 16.30.

Released in 1975, this iconic film won 5 Oscars plus Golden Globes and BAFTAs.It's the story of free-spirited Randle McMurphy who creates havoc at a state-run mental health hospital and declares war on a monstrous head nurse.
Shutter Island starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Ben Kingsley. Released in 2010 the film tells the story of an FBI agent who is tasked with investigating the disappearance of a murderer who escaped from a secure hospital. A very dark thriller with dizzying twists and turns.
Dead Poets Society starring Robin Williams, Robert Sean Leonard, and a very young Ethan Hawke. Released in 1989, the film won 1 Oscar. Set in a private boys-only school in New England, it's the story of an English teacher who encourages his students to 'carpe diem' with unforeseen and tragic consequences.
The Truman Show starring Jim Carey, Ed Harris, and Laura Linney. Released in 1998, The film was nominated for 3 Oscars.It tells the story of Truman Burbank who thinks he's an ordinary man until one day he discovers he's been starring in a reality TV show since birth.
Mr. Holland's Opus starring Richard Dreyfuss, Glenne Headly, Jay Thomas, and Olympia Dukakis. Released in 1995, the film was nominated for 2 Oscars and 1 Golden Globe. Set in the 1960s, it tells the story of a jazz composer who finds fulfillment as a high school music teacher. A feel good film if ever there was one.
