"We have to have a minimum number of participants to justify the cost of the coach.
5/6 weeks before each concert I have to make a decision as to whether we can cover our costs.
So have a good think and we look forward to seeing you on the next 3 concerts.

General Group News:
Interest Group of the Month
There was no interest group of the month this month. November will be in the form of a few songs by the Ukulele group in the Coffee area so make sure you pop in to support them.
Interest Group News:
Freda was in the lounge at coffee time with sheets for new interest groups where members can add their names to register an interest. She also had paper forms of the survey for members to complete if they hadn’t already returned one.
Freda also updated members on the survey. She said that she was pleased to have received over 200 replies so far (25 %) and will now be analysing the requests and any comments. She did express concern that some members had suggested some new groups but for groups that already exist. She reminded members that the full list of groups currently running are in the Newsletter and on the website.
Freda was pleased to announce that the Cryptic Crosswords, Beginners French and Beginners Italian had either launched or was launching in the next week or so. There was also interest in a new group for Song Writing so contact Freda if this group is of interest to you.
PR and Communication:
Rodney displayed the new Posters and informed us that they should now be in libraries around the borough. He had brought copies for members to take away and put them up in their local halls and clubs. Rodney also had the new “Extend your world with Hillingdon U3A” leaflet that has been reprinted for members to collect and pass onto their friends so we can raise the profile of HU3A.
Rodney mentioned that the ‘The Day of the Older Person’ at the Pavilions Shopping Centre on Tuesday the 24th September was very successful for us and that he has been successful in obtaining an entry in the Hillingdon People for our U3A.

IT Team - Request for Assistance
Jim explained how the IT Team like to have the ability to support one another and provide contingency for roles within the team. Today's notice is a request for help from someone who has programming experience.
The main role will involve helping to test modifications to our Membership system (MASH). The system itself is stable and managed by John Martin who has full knowledge of functionality and technical issues such as language and environment.
The team has recently welcomed Marie Babyanss whose background is teaching Microsoft applications, but since she joined us she has worked with Nigel White in distributing the last Bulletin and is also helping him with the introduction of Online Booking and Payment for U3A functions.
So, the 'programming experience' role could be an opportunity for the candidate learn and work with our other IT functions.
If anybody would like to help with this role please contact John Martin or myself (Jim Hall), contact details are in the newsletter.
Post Announcement UPDATE
I am pleased to update this announcement with the news that Geoff Street has come forward to offer his assistance. Welcome Geoff.
