Welcome to the web-site for High Wycombe & District U3A: a medium sized branch of the national organization, "The University of the Third Age (U3A)". The U3A is an international learning organization made up of independent groups run by their members. Members are normally retired or semi-retired from paid employment, and wish to use some of their leisure time to acquire new skills and help others do the same. To find out more about the history and ethos of the U3A, follow the click the link at the right hand end of the menu bar above.
THE HIGH WYCOMBE & DISTRICT U3A
The High Wycombe & District group was formed, and its Constitution adopted, in September 1996 and has over 350 members from a widespread area around High Wycombe, including Marlow, Stokenchurch, Thame and Wendover. Regular monthly general meetings are held on the fourth Wednesday afternoon of the month in the Lacey Green Millennium Hall at 2.15pm. A guest speaker talks for about an hour, this is followed by a few minutes of group administration and then free tea & biscuits are served. A meeting is not held in December when there is a coffee morning, which is usually held in the Naphill Village Hall. At the coffee morning there is no guest speaker but some of our subject groups put on a display of their previous year's activities or provide entertainment. Both Lacey Green and Naphill are served by Arriva Bus No 300 (High Wycombe to Aylesbury) with bus stops outside each hall.
