Croquet (S)

croquet.jpg Croquet for members of our U3A group was started several years ago at the High Wycombe Croquet Club on the Rye at Bassetsbury Manor. The Croquet Club moved, temporarily, to Missenden Abbey because Bassetsbury Manor had been sold by Wycombe Council. The Club moved to a permanent location, in April 2014, at Hazlemere Recreation Ground which is located just off the Amersham Road. Over the years membership has been extended to U3A members from Amersham, Beaconsfield and Wendover. The High Wycombe Club is one of only three croquet clubs in Buckinghamshire and is the oldest and largest of the three. During the croquet season (April - September ), U3A members have use of the croquet courts each Wednesday 1030 to 1230. The Croquet Club's equipment is available and basic instruction is provided to enable players to quickly enjoy the social game of ‘Golf Croquet’, which provides gentle outdoor exercise. If you would like to know more about this fascinating game, contact the convenor through the link above.

The player pool has now reach its maximum so a waiting list has been started for the 2019 season.
