Croquet
The Croquet Group was formed at the start of the 2014 season to introduce members to the sport, beginning from scratch.
We play at Forrester Park Golf Club, courtesy of Maldon Croquet Club, who provide the lawns and all equipment in return for a small green fee, currently £3 per session.
We play “golf” croquet during the summer, on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of the month from 10.00 to 12.00. Just show your U3A membership card the first time you come. Partners are drawn at random, with each game lasting about 30 to 40 minutes, so we normally fit three games into the morning with different partners and opponents.
The basics of the game are easily mastered and the atmosphere is very informal, with no dress code. It can be purely social, but be warned! It can also get very tactical, but always fun.
