Patchwork

The Patchwork Group meets in the West Maldon Community Centre, Sunbury Way, Maldon CM9 6YH, on the second Monday of each month at 2.00 pm.

Membership of the group is aimed at those who are interested in sewing and learning about the traditional craft skills of creating artistic and useful things from small pieces of fabric.

Members share their skills to make such items as: quilts; bags; cushion covers etc. as well as other artistic objects, like wall hangings and panels. Some members use sewing machines to sew the pieces of fabric together, but it is possible to create effective patchwork designs by using traditional hand sewing techniques. By using different colours and shapes an infinite number of unique patterns and designs can be created. Discussing how a finished piece of work will look once assembled is as important a function of the group as the pleasure of admiring the work when completed.

Members can bring their work to meetings and enjoy the convivial atmosphere of sewing and chatting together with like minded friends.
