Headington

Book Group meetings

AS A HEALTH PRECAUTION, ALL BOOK GROUP MEETINGS ARE CANCELLED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE OWING TO THE CURRENT Covid-19 SITUATION.

The Headington U3A BOOK READING GROUP meets at 2 pm on the second Tuesday of the month on the stage of the Headington Community Centre, Gladstone Road, OX3 8LL.

Copies of the books are provided by Oxfordshire County Library Reading Group Service.

The Library usually provides novels, though occasional non-fiction, including we read Shop Girl, a memoir by Mary Portas. Also Hidden Figures by Margot Lee Shetterley, about the overlooked contribution of the African American women to calculations for the USAF during the war, and who also helped win the space race for NASA in the run up to the moon landing.

Quite often we agree on our assessments of books and the discussion is short, and we move on to the wider world! Our best discussions are when people have different reactions to books – there’s no “right” or "wrong” response and it makes us think.
