Gardening
The Hawkwell Village U3A Gardening Group had its inaugural meeting in March 2014 It seems the interest in horticulture encourages a very friendly group of people to meet and share the wonders found in the garden.
The Gardening Group usually meet once a month at various venues and this tends to be on a Friday afternoon, although this is not set in stone. Travelling to and from any venue will be at the members' own arrangement and cost as well as any entry fee if applicable.
The aim of the Gardening Group is to help those with little or no knowledge of gardening and to assist others to improve their gardening expertise with tips and advice. Visits to members'own gardens have shown great talent within the group and proved helpful to other members of the group. Specialist speakers are always welcome to our group meetings.
We visit local National Garden Scheme Open Gardens (often with a cream tea/cake if required)
We visit the local Royal Horticultural Society Garden at Hyde Hall.
In time we hope to visit Flower Shows further afield.
We have plant and seed swaps at least once a year.
We are always open to new ideas for our meetings.
Participation in any meetings organised by the Gardening Group is at the members' own risk.
No specific health and safety issues are foreseen although members should be aware that access to some premises may be restricted and uneven ground conditions may be encountered.
