Interest Groups are the life blood of U3As. They are a great way of meeting new friends, learning new skills, or enjoying an existing interest. Shown below, in alphabetical order, are the Groups to which members have so far signed up. Each group page includes detail of where and when the group meets. For more detailed information follow the link via each Group's name. If you have any further questions or if you wish to join a Group, please contact the individual Group Leader by email.
There are as many ways of approaching the establishment and running of groups as there are people to run them. Anyone can run an interest group if they feel they can offer that facility, the Interest Groups Co-ordinator will be pleased to guide you through the procedure if you would like further information about setting up a new group.
Two new Interest Groups were proposed at the August Monthly Meeting. Ian Farnell wants to start a Ukulele group. The ukulele is seeing a resurgence in popularity because it's easy to reach a level where you can enjoy playing, either by yourself or in a group with others. Ian says you don’t need any experience and would welcome both absolute beginners and experienced players. Ivor Metcalf has plans for a Board Games group. He has a varied collection of games and it should be quite easy to get this group off the ground. If you haven’t already signed up at the Meeting and would like further details please contact the Interest Groups Co-ordinator.
