Adventures in Literature - Aims

Havant U3A Adventures in Literature group - our aims

In contrast to a regular book club, when everyone reads the same book, the group has a topic or theme for each month and members are free to make their own choice of book to read. At the meeting they can explain how they selected their book, outline the plot, their opinion of the author and whether they would recommend it.

Personal selections often explore the interpretation, diverse nature and extremes of the topic chosen but there are of course no wrong choices.

Our meetings are always interesting, informative and most importantly good fun. If you are interested in one of the other members' choice of books you can make a note about it & you may even be lucky enough to borrow a copy! The reviews or brief summaries of our choices may be found on the Adventures in Literature page on the Havant U3a website

Ways of joining our group

You can send me an email asking to join using the link on the 'Adventures in Literature' home page. You have to be a member to belong to any U3a group but you can have a visit before you decide.

You can sign up for the Literature Group at the AGM in September at Bedhampton Social Hall, or come along to any meeting and join in.

Guests are welcome! Any Havant U3a member can come along and join in. For 2023-2024, pay £2.00 per session contribution to room hire.

Keep up to date with the website which is regularly refreshed and post me reviews of books you have read for inclusion on the Adventures in Literature pages. In addition we have an extensive archive of past meetings and book reviews, to which any U3a member may contribute.
