Poetry Reading
They say poets have all the best lines. And so they should – they spend long enough crafting them. They deserve to be given life by being read – aloud. In this group we take the work of published poets and breathe life into it through our own interpretations and voices.
You don’t need to know about poetry to do this. Just be prepared to bring along some poems for each session to read - poems you half-remember from childhood, from school, from life. Poems you unearth from books or the infinite library of the internet. Perhaps bring something to share about the poet, too.
You will hear old friends, encounter new voices, hear the words of strangers from strange lands. Sessions will be based on a theme as a focus for choosing poems, but this can be interpreted as broadly as you wish. Come and be surprised, informed, moved and delighted. And share laughter, too – even poets aren’t serious all the time.
