The 25 Year Cake TWENTY FIVE YEARS OF HARROGATE U3A

The group open day and AGM on 23rd September was an opportunity to celebrate with cake and beverages at the Cairn Hotel.

The cake was cut by Jill Waterlowe one of the first to become a member and she was assisted by the Chairman David Blyfield.

COACH OUTING TO CARLISLE

Ivan Peel organised another enjoyable trip for our members. This time to Carlisle on Friday 30th September. To meet the demand, two coaches were needed along with two leaders. Thankfully, Barbara was volunteered to lead the second coach and overcame any possible confusion caused by two pickup points, 90 U3A members and, two identical coaches.

We were lucky that Friday was a fine sunny day and the two hour journey over the Pennines was a pleasure. Carlisle centre is compact and restaurants and the main points of interest are within the pedestrian zone. Cathedral Choir? The Cathedral, Tullie House Museum/Art Gallery and the Carlisle Castle castle are the main attractions which make Carlisle an ideal day trip. Should there be time to spare, there are other museums, a modern indoor shopping complex and the classical railway station (being renovated) to visit.

Thanks to Barbara and Ivan for arranging this great trip and ensuring that we all returned home safely.
