DURING THE COVID 19 PANDEMIC THE GROUP IS MEETING AT 2PM ON MONDAYS VIA ZOOM. IF MEMBERS NOT IN THE GROUP WISH TO RECEIVE AN INVITATION THEY SHOULD CONTACT THE GROUP LEADER
The purpose of the group is to enjoy informal singing a range of folk songs. We have planned this term to have a very experienced folk singer leading singalongs. However, this will be alternated with other weeks when we will have a mixture of guest artists and also some meetings being led by the members choosing songs themselves. The songs will cover a wide range from traditional to recent including sea shanties, etc. which are provided in a songbook with new songs being regularly introduced.
The group size currently averages around 20 so is quite small and very friendly. No-one is pressured into singing solo and it doesn’t matter about singing ability especially since folk tends to be quite simple music and very easy to pick up.
We will meet Monday afternoons but in September it will be just once on 9th and then every week from 30th September through to December 16th (including half term) during 2019. Meetings are held in the Bosworth Hall at St. Peter's Church in the centre of town, from 2.00 until 3:45 pm with a sociable tea break in the middle.
To pay for the hall rental, photocopying and occasional music licences a payment of approximately £25 is payable at the beginning of the term. Interval refreshments and biscuits are provided by the Church at 50p.
