Badminton (Wednesday Group)
We are a small group – unfortunately somewhat limited in numbers by the availability of only one court – who play every Wednesday during school term times at the Styan Centre from 10 am to 12 noon. The Hall is used by the local community at school holiday periods so we do not meet across Christmas and Easter and at the half terms.
Our standard would probably best be described as ‘social to fair’ where we have all probably played socially or at minor Club level. We are not really able to absorb complete novices. Dress code is very casual but suitable footwear is necessary. We provide ‘black’ feather shuttles and currently score up to 11 using the old scoring system (we are of that era!).
One of our number brings in milk and we keep a stock of tea and coffee in the kitchen area which makes our mornings quite social occasions.
The membership is kept to a maximum of 14 and we usually have about 8 to 11 turn up paying £2.50 by the week. With one court, we normally, individually, get in about 5 games per session. Although we currently, theoretically, have no spare spaces, some of our group cannot make every session and we could probably accommodate another one or two members.
Day - every Wednesday in school term times (excluding June/July)
Time - 10 am to 12 noon
Venue - Styan Centre, just off Jennyfield Drive, Harrogate
Members - 14 (restricted by availability of a single court)
