THE GROUP HAS SUSPENDED MEETINGS DURING AUGUST AND WILL RECONVENE EARLY SEPTEMBER EITHER ON MONDAY OR THURSDAY MORNINGS. During the Covid 19 pandemic, the group will continue to meet weekly via Zoom video conferencing.
Italian for beginners is for people who have little or no knowledge of the language. The group meets at 11.00 a.m. for one hour each Thursday morning at the St Robert’s Centre.
The format of the session comprises speaking simple Italian (using authentic conversations by Italians), learning the basics of Italian grammar, and reading Italian at an elementary to moderate level.
The pace is deliberately slow, to enable members to fully grasp a particular building block before moving on to the next; revision of previously-learnt elements is regular.
The premise is that members will learn more if the learning experience is enjoyable and non threatening.
After the lesson most members go to a nearby coffee bar to continue some relaxed practising and to enjoy each other’s company.
