The Newsletter has now become the on-line News Sheet". It remains an enjoyable and informative read that has improved and grown through the efforts of our editor, Terry.
Terry is in need of an assistant/understudy and any support offered. Please consider joining the Newsletter Team so that we can keep delivering the news and entertainment that keeps our members informed and the broader community interested in our U3A.
The September "News Sheet" is now available via the link. ==>
We plan to publish News Sheets so long as we are unable to meet physically. There's no schedule or deadline - when there is enough material Terry will put it together - so keep those words flowing. There will be no printed editions until "normal life" resumes - so No printing costs.
If you are aware of members/friends who do not have email please print a copy and send it to them.
Contributions in the form of Articles and Photos from the Groups are always welcome. - The articles can be as brief as you like - please just take a few minutes to let everyone know how much you enjoy your group's activities.

THE UNIVERSITY OF THE THIRD AGE
The U3A is an international self-help learning organisation for "3rd Agers". In the UK the national umbrella organization, The Third Age Trust ("TAT") is a company limited by guarantee with charitable status. Harlow U3A is an unincorporated charity that functions for the broader benefit of society. Harlow U3A is an operationally independent affiliate of TAT. U3A members are typically retired or semi-retired from paid employment and wish to share their skills, interests and experience with others. Harlow U3A provides many opportunities to try new hobbies and activities, to socialize, and join others supporting the community in volunteer roles.
Check the "Volunteer" page for local volunteering opportunities.
Everyone who is on the committee, runs one of the groups or helps at monthly meetings is a volunteer. Getting involved is a great way to make new friends, be socially active, to know what is happening within the U3A and engage with the wider community.
Find more about the history and ethos of the U3A on the National Organization's website, accessed via the "U3A" Page of this website, where you can also sign up for the monthly 'National U3A Newsletter'.
Harlow and Surrounding Areas U3A was formed in January 2008. We have about 900 paid up members and 75 interest groups at the beginning of 2019. Check the Groups Page for a flavour and variety of interests/activities and find more details on groups that interest you. Contact information and meeting times of current groups are available on the Groups Page and also in the Newsletter.
The member-run groups are at the heart of the U3A. Every encouragement is given to serve more interests and start new groups. Interest group members manage their own arrangements and expenses, subject to general guidelines and rules on cash handling.
There is a monthly general meeting, usually the 4th Monday of the month, at Paringdon Sports Club, Paringdon Road, Great Parndon, Harlow, CM19 4QT from 10.00 to 12.30am. Actual meeting dates via the link ==>
