Contact geography group
To date we have fifteen members and attendance is high throughout the year. We have spaces for at least five more as we meet in the Quinborne Community Centre, Ridgeacre Road, Quinton. The number 24 bus stops outside the Centre. We meet on the fourth Friday of each month at 10.30.
We have an ad hoc approach in this Group and choose Countries to study based on suggestions from members. Last September we began to explore Poland and from there we ‘moved’ to Canada and thence to Romania. At present we are studying Brazil.
Each member takes an aspect of the Country being studied. We cover Physical, Climate, Flora and Fauna, Agriculture, Industry, Politics, Natural Resources and other topics. We have DVD facilities and use the National U3A Resource Library. One of our members, Brian Norden is an IT wizard and shows us films from You Tube and other resources relevant to the Country being studied. One of these showings was an excellent explanation of the origin of the Great Lakes in Canada.
