CREATIVE WRITING – John Hilbourne,
Contact Creative Writing
There are currently two creative writing groups, one meeting on the first and third Thursday of the month, and the other on the second and fourth Wednesday between 10.00-12.00 am.
Members of the Wednesday group are relatively new to creative writing and follow a structured programme which is designed to give them confidence and build up their writing skills. The Thursday group agrees on a writing task, subject or form for each meeting.
This year we have our own established slot on the Web site under the heading “Writings”. Each month some one chooses a piece of their writing which they think may interest members of the branch. This varies from short stories to humorous poems. Feedback has been very positive.
Why not go to the Writings page and see whether you agree or disagree?
Creative writing is fun. Most people can do it. Most people think they can’t. If you can tell a joke, tell your friends about your holiday, you grand children etc. you have a rich experience of life on which you can draw. It quickly becomes addictive. We are thinking of starting a third creative writing group next year if we can get sufficient numbers - we need six to eight people.
If you are interested do let the Groups Secretary know. Go on, give it a try!
