Bus Pass Outings
The Bus Pass Outings Group is a long-established, very friendly group, whose membership has fluctuated over the years, but has always been popular. We are currently a group of 16 members. We do not restrict our numbers, as we find that with so many groups being on offer, and “grandparent duties”, our members cannot always come to every bus trip we arrange. There is an average of 8 members attending each trip.
We usually take a bus from the area where we live into Southampton, where we meet up. From there we take the relevant bus to our chosen destination. However, if that destination is to the east of our area, then we take the relevant buses needed to meet up at our destination.
The actual bus trip is regarded as part of the day out, with countryside views, and we all sit together and have lively chats. Because of daylight hours and the restrictions of some bus times, we find that we have to restrict the places we visit to fairly local places, and we only do our trips in the summer months.
However we have visited a wide variety of towns and villages, including Hythe, Lepe, Lyndhurst, Lymington, Beaulieu, Romsey, Alton, Winchester, Salisbury, Bishops Waltham, Wickham, Lee on Solent, Fareham, Portsmouth and a few others.
We usually head straight for a café on arrival and enjoy tea, coffee and a chat. Then we head off together for the local attractions, be it a riverside walk, a browse around the shops, a cathedral, a park or an ancient building.
If you think this is for you, then you are very welcome to join us.
Among the places visited in previous years were, Alresford, Alton Beaulieu, Bishops Waltham , Beaulieu, Gosport, Hythe, Lee on Solent, Lepe Beach, Lymington, Portchester, Portsmouth, Romsey, Salisbury, Wickham and Winchester.
