Halton

Welcome

Welcome to Halton u3a. The u3a is a learning organisation for people who are retired or semi-retired and wish to use some of their time to learn new skills and help others do the same. No qualifications are needed, none are given and there are no exams. It is non-profit making and is run entirely by volunteers. We provide opportunities for our fast growing membership to meet like-minded people and to get involved and enjoy a wide range of interest groups, both educational and recreational, all suggested by the members themselves. Members are able to join as many groups as they wish. A full list of groups can be seen on our Groups page. We get together regularly to meet new people, to try new activities and most of all, to have fun and social contact in the process of shared learning. The borough of Halton includes the neighbouring towns of Runcorn and Widnes and the villages of Hale, Daresbury, Moore and Preston Brook. Halton u3a is a member of the Third Age Trust, a registered charity which oversees and supports all u3as.

To date, Halton u3a has over 100 members and group activities usually take place at various locations in the area. General Meetings for members and visitors are held on the second Thursday in the month and are held at 1.30 pm at The Masonic Hall, Kingsway, Widnes, WA8 7QH. The usual format of the general meetings offers members and visitors the chance to listen to a speaker speaking on a topic of interest and to be able to ask questions afterwards as well as the opportunity of enjoying a cuppa and a chat with other members after the speaker.

For obvious reasons we ask that you do not attend any activites if you are suffering from any of the symptoms of Covid or have been in contact with anyone else who has.

“Teach me something today and I will teach you something tomorrow”
