Welcome to Halton U3A. The University of the Third Age is a learning organisation for people who are retired or semi-retired and wish to use some of their time to learn new skills and help others do the same. No qualifications are needed, none are given and there are no exams. It is non-profit making and is run entirely by volunteers. We provide opportunities for our fast growing membership to meet like-minded people and to get involved and enjoy a wide range of interest groups, both educational and recreational, all suggested by the members themselves. Members are able to join as many groups as they wish. A full list of groups can be seen on our Groups page. We get together regularly to meet new people, to try new activities and most of all, to have fun and social contact in the process of shared learning.

To date, Halton U3A has over 100 members and group activities usually take place at various locations in either Runcorn or Widnes. General Meetings for members and visitors are held on the second Thursday in the month, 1.30 pm at Widnes Masonic Hall, Kingsway, Widnes, WA8 7QH. All are welcome. As of the start of 2021 the monthly General Meetings are being held via Zoom. The borough of Halton includes the neighbouring towns of Runcorn and Widnes and the villages of Hale, Daresbury, Moore and Preston Brook. Halton U3A is a member of the Third Age Trust, a registered charity which oversees and supports all U3As.

January 2021 - Some of our groups are now regularly meeting online via Zoom. These groups include the Science Is For Everyone group, the iPad group, the Reading Group and the Ukulele Group. These meetings are open to current members of Halton U3A and visitors. Visitors should contact the group leaders via email for further information. Contact details for the relevant group leaders can be found on the respective group pages on this website. All other group activities are currently suspended until further notice because of Covid 19.
