Welcome to the website of Halewood u3a

Halewood is situated in the south of the Metropolitan Borough of Knowsley, Merseyside /bordering Liverpool.

The University of the Third Age (u3a) is a nationwide organisation based on local groups providing opportunities for retired and semi retired people to meet together and develop their interests.

Halewood u3a was founded in 1996 and is one of the smaller u3as. At present we have 161 members. We are building up our interest groups where members come together to share knowledge and experience. There are learning opportunities as well as outdoor activities and social events.

Our interest groups include Walking, Discussion, Lunch Group, Book Club, Interesting Buildings. Theatre Visits,
Garden Interest Group, Crafts, and a games group which includes Bridge & Canasta. New for 2024 we have a Family History and a Chat Group, See the Groups page for details on all these activities.

We meet on the Last Friday of each month. For the first time we are also meeting in August(30th) for the first time. We are regarding this a our "u3a Day" for this year. It will have a different format to our usual monthly meetings (to be announced)

Also in August we have a special day out and also an event in December with a Christmas flavour.

Membership Fee is £12.00 p.a.
We welcome visitors to our monthly meetings. To help with Speaker costs we request a £2.00 fee but should you decide to become a member - that will be refunded.

Our Next Monthly meeting will be on Fri 26th April.
Our Guest speaker will be a return visit for Ray O'Brien who this time will give a talk on
"Entertainers from both sides of the Mersey"
