Hale & District

Monthly Meetings are usually held on the first Thursday of the month 2:00pm-4:00pm. They take place at the Bowdon Rooms, (home of the Cinnamon Club) in The Firs, Bowdon, Altrincham, Cheshire WA14 2TQ. Doors open at 1:30pm, giving you an opportunity to browse information and chat to members.

The next meeting is on 7th November: "Gamblers Get the Spots, Families Get the Symptoms" - Paul Isherwood will explain the meaning of his enigmatic title in his story.

Future meetings include the following talks:

5th Deceember: "The 1950s". Dave Walmsley will make a welcome return to take us through a decade dear to many of our hearts, in his usual light but informative way.

2nd January 2010: "Charlatans, Frauds and Fools" - Jim Williams will describe how intelligent people will
believe stupid things

We look forward to seeing you at our other future meetings which will be open from 1:30pm and the formal presentation/talk will start at 2:00pm prompt. The presentation will last approximately 40 minutes and will be followed by questions. After that there will be light refreshments and an opportunity to chat to other members and to talk to the Group Leaders and Committee members about joining existing groups or starting up new ones. We finish at 4:00pm. There is a small admission charge of £1 to cover the cost of hiring the hall. Members are requested to have their £1 coins at the ready.

I hope that you will enjoy this programme of social events and use it as an opportunity to meet new people as well as to have some fun with existing friends. Just a reminder: U3A members are welcome to include friends and partners in social events with the exception of the December Monthly Meeting which is open to existing and new members only.

We operate a 'buddy' system for those who would like to attend social events but do not wish to go on their own. Just contact Gill Homan on gillian.homan@gmail.com for details.
