U3A Diary Project
A Hadleigh Member's contribution to the National U3A Diary Project was included on the National website. See below for what she said.
Saturday 20th June
"Realised I have now missed two haircuts but surprisingly to me everyone looks quite good and not half as straggly as I would have imagined!
Today was the celebration for J’s 60th
We managed a socially distanced family gathering in the garden with fish, chips, and champagne!
His family bought him a “crowdie”!! Football is back but no spectators so you can be a cardboard cut-out sitting in the stadium. He will be with his brother, but the J’s picture shows him wearing a suit!!"

U3A HADLEIGH 20th ANNIVERSARY
This has been cancelled. Hopefully we can have a 21st Anniversary next year!
This year is Hadleigh U3A’s 20th Anniversary and we are using our Summer Party on 13th July to celebrate and have various ideas in the making. As a part of this we want to have a display of any items from our past 20 years – photographs of early events, memories from inaugural members in 2004. Were you or someone you know among those first members? Does anyone have a copy of the Minutes from the first committee meeting? Please contact Sue if you have anything.
NATIONAL U3A DAY - JUNE 3rd 2020
The decision has been taken by National U3A to postpone this to Wednesday 2nd June 2021
You may have seen in Third Age Matters that this year also sees the first National U3A Day on 3 June 2020 and U3A’s all over the UK are being encouraged to do something to acknowledge this. So far our walking group have been invited to join Stour Valley’s walkers for a special walk that day. Also Stowmarket are planning a one-day event for all U3A’s in our area. More news about that in due course. Any of our groups with ideas they might put forward, do let Sue know.
Hadleigh On Show – October 5th 2019
We had a stand at the first ever ‘Hadleigh On Show’ event showcasing all the groups in the town.
Some 90 groups had stands and well over 1200 people attended.
The event was held in the Guildhall and St Mary’s Church and as well as community groups there was a timetable of demonstrations and performances.
We had a lot of interest in our U3A and hopefully will welcome some new members.
