Hadleigh Castle

Drama

Group Leader :Hazel Gonda There is space for new members.
The Drama group meets twice a month on the second and third Wednesday of the month between 2pm and 4pm, currently in the WRVS Hall in Hadleigh.We look at everything from comedy to drama using material from all areas; Pam Ayres to Shakespeare. What is
more important is the fun we have during our twice monthly workshop sessions and the confidence people have gained in their abilities, particularly in voice projection, and knowing that any ideas they have can be presented for other people in the group. Some people are happy to just do this, and do not want to actually perform, and this is fine by us too.
The Workshops are structured, yet there is room for flexibility and we are always open to new ideas. The sound of laughter is one you will hear on a regular basis. We laugh with each other, not at each other. We give a warm welcome to new members and would say to any men reading this - come and join us - you don't know what you are missing. Therefore I will, with apologies to Shakespeare and any other literary minded person who might be offended, repeat my request from the last U3A meeting.

Madam Chair, committee and U3A members;
Lend me your ears.I have come to cajol you Not to praise you - as yet.
Romeo, oh Romeo, or is it Ken, Tony, George John or Phil or Tom, Dick or Harry?
Wherefore art thou?Your drama group needs you!The good that you will do Will be henceforth proclaimed By all who see your new skills obtained.
So I'll state my case:Come join our merry group And you will reap the coup With applause that will raise the roof And more, your peers approval by the score.
So once more unto the breach I say, once more Do not close up this plea with your reticence Stiffen the sinews, summon up the courage.You will not dishonour your Mothers or yourselves.Strain upon the start - give me your names! The games afoot: follow your spirit, and upon this charge CRY, 'CHEERS FOR THE HADLEIGH U3A, ENGLAND, AND ST GEORGE!'
