Hadleigh Castle

Book Club 2

U3A Hadleigh Castle Book Club
Group Leaders : Group 1 : Karoline Griffiths, Group 2 : Maggie Garrard
We meet on the 2nd and 3rd Tuesday of the month, but regret that we can't take any new members at present.

Jenny Brown writes: Our book clubs have settled down to an enjoyable monthly meeting, where recently read books are discussed and the next book eagerly anticipated. It has become very clear that not everyone enjoys the same book and a lively debate follows over its merits or otherwise.

In May we had a speaker from Essex Libraries, to talk about book clubs and how to make the most from the library's services. Thank you, Jan, for coming and talking to us, it was very interesting. A big thank you to our "Lemon Drizzle Cake" maker. A delicious cake for us to share with our coffee.

Recent books have included " The Island" by Victoria Hislop, "The Kite Runner" by Khaled Hosseini, !The Morville Hours" by Katherine Swift, "Dangerous Fortune" by Ken Follett, "One for the Money" by Janet Evanovich, and "Death Warrant" by Will Pearson - such a variety!

Joan writes: There is so much laughter during our meetings it is a wonder we find time to discuss the books. There are birthdays nearly every month when delicious cakes are produced and shared..... Watch those waistlines, Ladies!
