Session cancelled. Tuesday 1st March 2022
We have been dancing off and on during the Covid crisis and within the Government and Sunnyfield House guidelines. Now 10 of us are together again and we’re allowed up to 15 people, so we have space for 5 more.
Please join us if you are interested in improving your suppleness and learning how to move to exciting rhythms. Warm-up exercises are a prerequisite of each session and we always work within your comfort zone.
Over the last 4 years we have included other dance forms known colloquially as Tribal Fusion. Here we take basic rhythms and add on other dance forms. Currently we are exploring Spanish movements, but we have included Celtic dance forms and those from Latin America and South Africa.
We encourage group members to bring music that they are particularly fond of and we have created a Middle-Eastern choreography to their music.
Members of the group find it warm and welcoming. Initial inhibition seems to fall away as members learn that we all have a potential to dance and develop a sense of ease with our movements. Because of Covid we are only using dance forms that allow us to keep our social distance. This has been no mean challenge but we have done it. Keeping safe is of paramount importance.
If you would like to learn more, there is an article on this dance form with a few photos in Guisborough U3A's Newsletter for April 2021 -- click on 'Newsletters' at the top of this page and select the April newsletter from the list in the right-hand column.
