Anglo-Saxon Attitudes 1
This course will provide an insight into a period of history which is little known but whose literature is surprisingly sophisticated. We will cover the beginnings of English language and literature from early Pagan times to Christianity. No homework required but members' contribution to sessions will be very welcome. Reference to "A Choice of Anglo-Saxon Verse" by Richard Hamer and "Beowulf", the bilingual edition are recommended.
