Singing for Fun: Since forming in November 2016, our numbers have grown. We are a very friendly group with approx 40+ people on the register. We get together every fortnight to sing, laugh, socialise and improve. It is our intention to perform and share our joy of singing with the wider community eg. at Retirement homes/dementia groups/carers groups etc.

We sing a wide variey of songs from traditional folk songs, sea shanties, blues, jazz and popular songs from the '40s, '50s, 60's and songs from Musicals and shows etc.. We do not hold auditions and there is no requirement to read music. Some people in the group tend to class themselves as 'non singers' often stating when they join, that they enjoy singing but do not believe themselves to be singers. However, the group sings very well and since forming, the group has gone from strength to strength and have already taken booking to sing at a care/community groups.

Members are welcome to come along and just sing or if they want to lead and conduct and direct a song(s), they are encouraged to do so, safe in the knowledge that the group is always supportive. We do not worry about being 'perfect' and if we make a mistake, we just laugh and carry on. We now have a repertoire of songs that we are very accomplished at singing, and we are continually adding new songs to our growing list. We often sing to pre-recorded backing tracks and we are fortunate to have a few members in the group who play instruments but we would like more players. The room we hire at The Acorn Centre, Great Yarmouth is a large room and this means that we have room to expand. So, if you enjoy singing in the bath or whether you sing in a choir and you fancy joining us, please get in touch by registering your interest by completing the U3A Gt Yarmouth contact form.

Remember - We no longer meet on 1st and 3rd Friday but every 2 weeks : No experience necessary.
