CREATIVE WRITING
Group Leader: Margaret Powell
First Wednesday in every month at 2.00 pm
Meetings last for two hours approximately with a refreshment break midway
Venue - Various group members homes throughout the area.
Our object is to stimulate and encourage a creative imagination through the written word.
At each meeting a subject is set by the group leader for the next meeting, allowing one month to prepare a piece of normally 800 - 1300 words. We each read our own piece aloud to the group.
There are no marks, passes, fails or even criticisms but a healthy respect for each other’s efforts. It is remarkable to listen to the variety of approaches to a subject, and therefore we tend to stimulate each other’s ideas, which may be incorporated in a future piece of work. We can each benefit from the “spin off” from our fellow writers and hopefully improve our own quality of work. It is certainly a lot of fun, with occasional “special tasks” set to add variety to the normal pattern.
