Meetings are suspended until after Summer break.
The papercrafters have a good long session until 4 p.m. as there are quite a lot of materials to get out and tidy up. We usually have to use the vacuum cleaner before we go or we should be in trouble from management! Most of our members prefer card making and we have a go at anything seasonal such as Christmas, Easter etc. but also predominantly Birthday cards, Get Well, Sympathy, children’s cards and so on.
I try to demonstrate 1 or 2 new ideas or skills each time we meet and I always have suggestions if people need them. We have learnt heat embossing, dry embossing, stamping, decoupage, iris folding, tea bag folding ( I will tell you what it is if you ask me) and general design tips. We try to do something special for Open Days.
Generally speaking I bring any materials which members are unlikely to have and people are encouraged to bring their die cutting machines if they have them as these are now becoming indispensable.
I hope that members will stock up on basic items such as card blanks, selections of coloured card and embellishments so that I do not have to provide them. I will be asking for a small donation for things which I provide.
New members need to bring a cutting mat (A4 or A3 size), a craft knife, and metal ruler and basic kit such as small sharp scissors, pencils, rubber and glue stick. A small bottle of PVA glue and double sided tape are also needed. All items can be cheaply purchased at outlets such as Hobbycraft, The Works (new shop at Market Harborough), The Range in Leicester or Osbournes in Oadby, or online.
No previous knowledge whatsoever is required and fun is guaranteed. Let me know if you would like to join us.
