At the moment we have twelve members. This number appears to be just about right so the Group is currently full. However, please contact me if you are interested in joining the Group and you can be put on a waiting list. The group has been meeting for fourteen years and has read a wide variety of books.
The books are chosen towards the end of each year and everyone is given the chance to suggest a book that they think the Group would enjoy the following year.
We each provide our own copy of the book and read one book each month. Many people buy books off the internet, either new or second hand or buy cheaply from charity shops. Of course the local library might also have a copy.
Our choice of books is varied and we do try to choose a few classics and older books – those by Jane Austen, Daphne du Maurier and John Steinbeck are some of our chosen authors. Modern novels, sometimes from the best seller lists also feature. We have also found it interesting to reread books that we read when we were young. Discussion is lively and it is amazing how opinions vary.
Our December meeting is usually just a group social.
Please contact me if you would like to be put on the waiting list.
We limit the number attending so all members can make a contribution. Duplicate groups can be opened if there is someone prepared to be Group Leader.
