Visiting Country Churches
We meet once a month to visit a different country church except for December; January (when we have a planning meeting at the Guide HQ), February and March.
Usually a member of that church gives us a guided tour round the building, telling about the history, architecture, possibly interesting windows. This is followed by tea and cakes, sometimes in the church and sometimes at a local cafe.
Sometimes we have an all-day outing to a cathedral, College Chapel or other place of particular interest.
We travel in member's cars, usually leaving Thame around 2pm and are normally home by 4.30pm. We ask if those who drive cars are willing to take a carful of any who don't drive. The usual cost for each member is £3.00 for a donation to the church a £1.50 gift to the driver, between £2.00 and £5.00 for tea, depending on where we go. We usually meet on the third Thursday of the month. Each month a different member organises that particular visit.
This is a friendly group and is never full. We visit some fascinating and unusual churches. New members are always welcome.
