Chess

We are a small group which meets TWICE a month, on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays at 10am each month. The first 15 minutes is taken up with coaching and solving problems using a chess demonstration board. After a short break for refreshments the members take part in chess games. Beginners are given instruction in the laws of the game and tactics in a separate room.

About 90 UK u3as are already linked by members playing chess by email. Two of our members are taking part in the recently formed u3a Chess League on the internet.

In order to keep our interest going, and our skills honed, we are continuing to play each other ad hoc through the online app Chess.com. Any members who fancy joining in while we oldies are all on Coronavirus lockdown are welcome to join in. I will be only too pleased to hear from them.
