BELLYBOLLYHULA and FUN

Looking for a fun, low impact keep fit activity? Try BELLYBOLLYHULA dancing!

BELLYBOLLYHULA is a mixture of dance styles from a wide range of cultures, ancient and modern and includes BELLYDANCE,BOLLYWOOD AND HAWAIIAN HULA dancing.(It is nothing to do with hula hoops!)

CAN ANYONE DO IT? It is suitable for all women no matter what age, size, shape or ability.

WHAT TO WEAR? You may fancy dressing up in a long flowing skirt and a shimmy belt or long scarf around the hips but basically all you need is clothing that does not restrict movement e.g. T shirt with a loose skirt or baggy trousers. Ideally we would dance in bare feet but for safety reasons lightweight shoes are advised.

SAFETY. Dancing is regarded as a low risk fitness activity but at our age our bodies need care. Be careful not to overdo new movements at first. Don't hesitate to stop and take a break at any time. Past injuries may restrict movement so do not force yourself to do movements you are not happy with. Please seek medical advice if you are in any doubt about your fitness to dance.

WHAT WILL WE DO AT THE CLASS? We will start with some warm up exercises before working on some dance movements and then proceed to practice some dances.

WHERE AND WHEN? Northgate Hall Usually the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of the month.
Restarting after the summer break on September 12th and 26th, and continuing on October 10th, 24th and 31st, November 14th and 28th, and December 12th 2023. 1.45 - 2.45 p.m.
