The u3a movement is for anyone who is no longer working full time and who is curious about the world and wants to carry on learning new things and sharing knowledge with others.  Learning should be fun and sociable.  There are no tests!

u3a is a national movement managed by the Third Age Trust who provide advice and support as well as running online events.  There are over 1,000 local u3a groups in the country who are all part of the Third Age Trust.

You can find more about the Third Age Trust here. U3a Trust

We're celebrating our 30th anniversary in 2024. We have over 250 members participating in about 30 different interest groups ranging from Art to Walking and Woolcraft. Our Groups and Activities page has full details. Membership costs £11 pa. Please see our Membership page for how to join.

More information about how Glossop U3a is run is on our Committee page

There is a monthly meeting on the 1st Thursday of each month at 10am in Bradbury Community House

Activity Groups are the core part of the ethos of a u3a and one of the priorities is to ensure a wide range of successful groups available for members. The success of our groups is the direct result of the inspiration, leadership and efforts of our group membership.

The style of meeting is informal and friendly in varying sizes of groups. Some members lead groups, some share tasks - it is up to each individual as to how committed and involved he or she becomes.
