CORONA VIRUS

CHAIRMAN'S MESSAGE 1st November 2020

Sadly, we all hear daily on the news of further cases all across the globe. We hear about it each time the radio or tv goes on And because our age group
tend to act sensibly and do as we are asked to in order to do our part and save lives, we are unlikely to get out as much as we used to. We met friends
whilst out shopping, we maybe even stopped off for a coffee with them and met up with even more friends.

And if you are a member of Garforth, Kippax and District u3a, you would either be going to one of your interest groups, or perhaps off to the monthly
Members Meeting at Garforth WMC. Sadly, for the most part they have been postponed.
But we have other ways to keep you busy! We may not be able to hold our normal face-to-face meetings, but both the committee and also the Group
Convenors, have been busy on your behalf.

The Group Convenors (and Julia) are also organising group meetings via Zoom, and our monthly meetings are also running each month on the first
Wednesday each month (as with our usual meetings). We are now finding that with Zoom we can get speakers from all over the country, so we are no
longer limited to local ones. If you never tried Zoom as yet, please don’t let that put you off – neither had most of the committee until recently.

You will soon get used to it, we all got used to mobile smart phones, and smart TV’s with hundreds of channels, even washing machines with programmes
for every kind of clothes (or so my wife tells me). Have a look at Graham on Membership page for an invite

If you hurry and look through your photo albums, you may find piccis to enter in our competition (see photo comp page).
We also have Newsletter Issue 1 now, which will be published on a regular basis and will keep you up to date with all our latest news.

I hope that you will find something to whet your appetite whist browsing through our new look webpage. We intend to keep it up to date more often in future so keep looking
