English Country Dancing
This group normally meets on the 1st and 3rd Mondays at the Croftlands Community Centre from 2.30pm until 4.30pm, starting each September and continuing through to and including the following April.
Of course, current circumstances mean that we are not able to do this but we are hoping that matters will be different by September 2021 and that we will then be able to return to our normal routine.
In the meantime, we have a quiz running that is based on the names of dances that have been done by the group in the past.
To coincide with when we would have been meeting, group members are receiving a quiz clue, the solution to which is a dance named on the group’s dance list (this list has been provided to members). The next time a quiz clue is sent out, the answer to the previous clue is given. This is accompanied by the dance instructions, other information relating to the dance and the clue that was given, and, if available, a YouTube link or links so that the dance can be viewed being danced by others – something, of course, we are looking forward to being able to do again ourselves!
When we meet, the entry fee is usually £1. In normal circumstances, there is a mid-meeting break with light refreshments and a chance to chat. Our meetings are great fun with good exercise (see our photos and members’ comments below).
