Write a Memory
Schooldays, a grandparent, a first job or a fantastic holiday… everybody has memories - sad or happy, some with families or friends.
The “Write a Memory group” meets monthly, to share these memories. A topic is chosen, we write about it at home, and bring it to the meeting where each member reads his/her memory, which is then discussed as we compare our thoughts from times past. We have fun, as it is a very friendly, relaxed group.
We would like new members, so do come and join us. We meet on the 4th Monday of each month, at 2pm, at Hartley’s, opposite Dalton Co-op. (it is not open to the public on Mondays) Cost: £1.50 for tea/coffee and biscuits. Phone Joan, 01229 462850 for more information.
Topics have included – a grandparent, a favourite pet, an unusual holiday, moving house, a wedding. Sometimes, members have chosen a topic of their own to write about instead of the chosen one, and this is quite acceptable.
More members are very welcome, please contact Joan for more information.
This group has published a paperback "Memories" A collection of memories written by members. Priced at only £3.95 it would make an excellent Christmas present or stocking filler. It is 188 pages in a handy A5 size. Copies available from Joan.
