The second monthly outing to a National Trust property is on May 21 to Gunby Estate, Hall, Gardens and Chapel.
The cost is £14, payable at the main meeting in May. We leave The Arena at 10am and start back around 4pm.
There are eight seats available. Set in the foot of the Lincolnshire Wolds, Gunby Hall has magnificent gardens and there’s a lovely walk to the chapel built in 1701 to look like a barn.
25 June is to Shugborough Estate, cost £13.
This is a Georgian mansion where you can experience life below stairs and then enter a world of glamour and royalty in the apartment of Patrick Lichfield, 5th Earl and fashion photographer.
There are formal gardens and parkland to wander around too!
Saturday 23 July the visit is to Packwood House and Baddesley Clinton in Warwickshire.
Saturday 20 August we are off to Canons Ashby, Northamptonshire. The minibus, with 14 places, will leave Forest Town Arena at 10.00 and return around 16.00. Autumn trips will be announced in future issues.
Members can book their places and pay at the general meetings or contact Ann by email
For our first National Trust outing we visited Mr. Straw’s House in Worksop.
The visit gave us a very interesting and fascinating glimpse into the lives of the Straw family spanning many decades during the 19th and 20th centuries.
Our second visit was to Southwell Workhouse, see the photos on the right.
