Theme for MARCH 14th. PETS/ANIMALS
One Christmas morning Dad told me come & see what Santa has brought,
in a basket fast asleep was a puppy with brown & white patches
so his name of course was Patch.
He was very good, behaved well & was liked by everyone
Then one day a trip the to vet was needed, Patch was very ill,
an operation was needed to mend his leg and he recovered very well.
Patch went to the seaside every summer and even once to London where the car was his bed.
One year he went to the kennels but escaped & went back home so he went to my Aunty after that.
He loved KitKats, and using a tomato as a ball, rolling in the snow & dressing up.
Then one day his heart wore out & our friend of 15 years was with us no more
but oh the memories of his life will be with us for ever more.
I have a cat called Bertie
he means the world to me,
most cats walk on four legs
but Bertie only has three,
we don't know how he lost his leg
the cats home weren't too sure,
they think that someone shot him
but couldn't tell me more.
It doesn't stop him climbing
or catching the odd mouse,
I only wish that he didn't insist
on bringing them in the house,
Bertie's been my lifeline
since I've been on my own,
he is simply the most loving cat that I have ever known,
and when he's curled up on my knee
I never feel alone.
My childhood pet was a rat
dressed in a coat and top hat,
he gnawed away
all night and day,
and wasn't afraid of the cat.
I once had a Spaniel for a pet
floppy ears and a nose so wet,
he slept all day
wouldn't work or play,
and made a fortune for the vet.
