February 2022

About 14 of us had a busy and creative morning, making progress with our macramé hanging basket holders, under the watchful eye of Kath, our expert, and other capable members of the group.
Some of us started off "all fingers and thumbs", until we "got" the process and completed about half the project (apart from one member who triumphantly finished!).

The morning went by with concentration and laughter, and as one lady said, she "didn't know where the time went!"
Next month there will be pebble-painting (for the garden), and/or completion of our macramé work.

Macramé January 2022

Macramé part 1:
Fouteen of us spent a pleasant morning learning the ropes (so to speak!) with Kath, who talked us through the art of macramé (tying various types of knots in string or cord for decorative effect).
I was reminded of knot-tying in the Brownies, aged about eight!

Macramé part 2: We'll resume our work next month (February 8), and hope to make a hanging basket holder for the house.

October 2021

We enjoyed our first meeting of the Gardening Group and how pleasant it was to get together once more!
A good turnout, and eleven of us painted small wooden medallions with acrylic paints and added little craft pieces, such as ladybirds and flowers, to create garden scenes.
The photo shows the beautiful results (however, we'll draw a veil over the efforts of the writer of this piece!).

Refreshments kept us going and we were treated to chocolate biscuits and Angelina's splendid lemon-drizzle cake. There was a plant swap and we discussed our future programme.

For our next meeting (Tues 9th Nov) we'll be making decorative wreaths, so if you are able to, please bring a basic circle for the wreath, wire or otherwise, something to cover it with, and decorative pieces.
Gardeners get together again

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The re-formed Gardening Group held its first meeting on Tues 14th March 2017 at the Forest Town Arena.
At this lively get-together we planned out the year ahead, with various ideas being put forward.
It was decided to have three outings during the course of the year, the first one in May to Felley
Priory when the bluebells are in flower.
WE had a speaker in September, followed by autumn and Christmas activities in the following months.

-------------

At our meeting on April 11th 2017, we made poppies out of clay, after the fashion of the famous
poppies displayed at the Tower of London - well, our Forest Town versions, anyway!
At other times there will be plant/seed swaps and general gardening chat.
