Going places relaunched in January 2018 with three members helping to run it. Visits take place on the 2nd Thursday of each month. This is an open group and if you are interested in joining please indicate your interest to the Groups Coordinator via the Contacts page.
We visit all sorts of places of interest, many on our doorstep and others further afield. This includes villages, towns, gardens, art exhibitions, museums, wildlife parks and specific buildings. Sometimes visits have a minimum or maximum number to be viable so it will be a case of ‘first come first served’! To save costs, cars and petrol money are generally shared, and those who do not drive can usually find a place with someone who is driving.
Often a member of the group organizes the visit and arranges for a local guide, or gives a talk themselves. We take things at a leisurely pace. Generally visits last for the morning and either end up with an optional lunch or visitors are free to seek their own refreshment. Occasionally they are afternoon trips or we venture further afield and arrange a day trip.
