Groups

The groups are formed by members with specific interests. In some groups the Facilitator has an extensive knowledge of the subject and will lead each meeting. In others the Facilitator coordinates the group meetings, but all members share in the running of the group. There is a social aspect to all groups and lasting friendships are made. Most of our groups are small – 5 to 10 - and many meet in members’ homes, once or twice a month. Some groups meet in a hall or a pub and others are outdoor activities.

If you would like to give a group a try to see if it is for you, we offer taster sessions. If the group is not what you are looking for you can leave without embarrassment, just let the Facilitator know. You still need to pay any refreshment costs, session costs or other usual group running expenses.

When a group is held in the Group Facilitator's or a member's home, it is suggested that members pay 50p to cover the cost of refreshments. However, groups may choose to make alternative arrangements to cover costs. Please read the guidelines for group members. When a group meets in a hall, the group members are responsible for the hall hire costs.

Please contact the group leader of any group that you are interested in through the carrier pigeon on each group's page. If a group hasn't got a place available, we will try to start a new group.
