Welcome to Flitwick and District U3A
Welcome to Flitwick and District U3A, formed on 31 January 2003. We have over 500 members and on 5 July 2016, this U3A was entered onto the Register of Charities with the Registered Charity Number 1168040 .
Visitors and new members are assured of a warm welcome to our monthly meetings, normally held at The Rufus Centre, Flitwick, at 10:30 on the second Thursday of each month for a talk by a visiting speaker or one of our own members. The entrance fee is £2.00 for members and £3.00 for guests; refreshments are included. Membership cost £10 and runs from February each year(see Links for Membership application form)
Please note that any visitor attending a general or group meeting more than twice will be asked to enrol as a full member.
As you will be aware we cannot hold our normal monthly General Meetings at present. We are instead proposing to have a monthly meeting using Zoom, with a guest speaker. However attendance will be limited to around 80 members because of limits on Zoom and the cost of licences for greater numbers.
To join the meeting, you need to have a computer (desktop laptop or tablet etc) capable of showing pictures and sound, as you would if you downloaded a film.
Further ZOOM meetings are planned but some may be changed - dependent on Coronavirus restrictions.
If you wish to join the meeting then please let the membership secretary know as soon as possible - it will be on a first come first served basis. Please note that the limit is 80 computers rather than actual members, so more than one person can watch / listen at each address - eg husbands and wives or friends, subject to whatever the Coronavirus rules are at the time.
Lucky ones will receive an invite to the meeting which will give a link to connect to the correct Zoom meeting. If you have not used Zoom before, it is very easy to logon and use, As with our general meetings, please logon well before 10.30, we won’t let latecomers in.
If this proves successful, then we will continue with similar meetings in future months, as far as possible on the dates we would otherwise have had a monthly General Meeting.

We produce a Newsletter for members three times a year. Members also receive Third Age Matters five times a year from our parent organisation, Third Age Trust.

Our policy is that members pay for the services they use. Our annual subscription is a modest £10, and the meeting charge for most groups is £1.
