Filey & District

Natural History

Do you enjoy nature?

Join us for walks in the local areas.

When we are outdoors stout footwear, waterproof clothing, sun cream and insect repellent is recommended. If you have binoculars, hand lenses and identification guides it would be useful to bring them. You may also like to bring a mat to kneel on if you want to look at plants, and a camera, notebook and pencil if you want to keep records.

Share your knowledge and we can learn together.

July 20. The Group has now restarted taking small groups out (maximum 6) under the
new government guidelines. Members are contacted by
email and asked to claim a place on the dates that David
and Janet have advertised, thus they are getting the group
out and about again so as not to miss enjoying the
abundance of wildlife and flora of summer. Indeed, the
smaller groups seem to be working better than the previous larger ones, so ONE
benefit from the new arrangements is emerging.

Sept 2020

The NATURAL HISTORY group lost its leaders! Sadly for us, Janet and David Pickersgill have moved out of Filey and relocated nearer their family, thus leaving the Natural History group in need of someone to take over. They have been taking small groups out frequently over the summer enabling the members to enjoy the good weather and the abundant wildlife. We do wish them well in their new home and send them our heartfelt thanks for all their work for Filey and District U3A over the years. Feast your eyes on the last of Janet’s nature photos in the September Newsletter. David and Janet you will be sorely missed.
