September 2 club challenge
The 9 hole golf group have like many other U3A groups have been unable to meet during the lockdown, but we have made up for lost time since we were given the go ahead to resume play. To celebrate our return, 9 of our group picked up the gauntlet, thrown down by Graham for a 2 club challenge which was held at Sawdon Golf Club on Tuesday 29th September.
Three teams of three took part to find just who could get round the 9 holes with the lowest score using just 2 clubs and also keeping to the rules set by Graham, it was not as simple as it sounds.
But in the end after checking all the score cards we found not one but two of our challengers had the same score each having a six month share of a trophy supplied and presented to them by Graham.
The worthy winners with a joint score of 50 strokes each are pictured below, Martin Hurst and Graham Blackmore, with Gary Smith and Shaun Rossiter both on 52 strokes = 3rd
