Botany for Everyone
Beginners, improvers and experts come along and share your knowledge and skills. Everyone, no matter whether a beginner or an expert will have something to offer.
Workshop based sessions (with field trips too) which explore the different plant groups (flowering plants, conifers, moss, lichen…) with the help of plant specimens, picture identification books and identification keys (without pictures!). Eye lenses and a low magnification stereo microscope will be available to help with identification or purely for the pleasure of seeing the detail in tiny flowers and seeds, etc. A good range of reference books will be made available so that everyone can pursue their particular interest.
Follow up field work will give everyone the opportunity to use their new knowledge of specific identification features to help improve their plant identification skills when out in the countryside - or maybe you’d like to marvel at the beauty of plants in their natural habitat without having to separate one species from its “cousin” and that will be equally as welcome.
Meetings will be monthly in the Organisers home and other venues as the group develops.
