Maps and Society
A practical guide to understanding and interpreting maps and an examination of society in relation to maps.
The aim of the course is for learners to gain a broad understanding of maps, in the context of society and will embrace social history, retail geography, human geography, urbanisation, demography, poverty and health, leisure & retail, transportation studies and basic principles of cartographic symbols and the ability to interpret the map in relation to the natural and built environment.
The first of twelve sessions will take place on Wednesday the 7th February 2018 at 11.00 hrs at the Great Western Railway Club, Imperial Car Park, Exmouth. The second will take place on the 21st February and then twice a month on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month subject to holidays and the needs of the Railway Club.
